a line apart premiered at Twenty+3 Projects Gallery in Manchester, UK as a small-scale work-in-progress in 2008. Its inspiration emerged out of Christine's participation in a workshop with Curious Theatre on "autobiology" where she explored the affective texture and tenor of personal body-memories. a line apart extends this exploration into a consideration of the effects of migration, and of the gap between intimacy and distance. Using paper as primary material and a series of narrative and performance actions, the work experiments with various audience-performer relations and maps new patterns of longing and desire, ranging from the personal to the global. a line apart is currently being re-developed as a performance-installation to premiere later this year.
