PodPlays invites audiences to upload five stories onto a portable media player and tour Downtown Vancouver through a unique locative, audio experience. Taking place within a 1.2-mile loop in the centre of the city, PodPlays explores the possibilities of spatial-temporal dislocation through a hybrid of technology, performance, sound and text.

What does it feel like to stand on the edge of time and feel the Future City rushing towards you? Commissioned by Neworld Theatre and the Playwrights Theatre Centre, Proximity Arts' contribution to PodPlays, "Five Meditations on the Future City," paints a lesser-known corner of the city in poetic gestures. In the intersection of an imagined sonic world and a real-time physical journey, "Meditations" negotiates the contrary pulls of nostalgia and progress while exploring our fleeting relationship with the future in a place where silence and noise vie for space.
